Essay 1 - Describe an outing with your friends
As a regular girl who studied in a daily school, I did not have many friends from other schools. However, my classmate and also my best friend, Amirah have made a lot of acquaintances as a result from presenting our school to many competitions and events that are held at different types of places and involving a variety of schools. So, one day, she asked me to join her to meet her friends that studied in another school because they were having a meetup since they have not seen each other for a while. We were going to have a study group in the morning and do all the fun stuff later on. I was nervous at first due to the fact that the friends were from a boarding school. They were surely smart and intelligent people.
As the day promised approached, me and Amirah went to the meetup place at the national library. Our day started at 7.30 in the morning where we left home and headed over to the MRT station. As we arrived at the station, we boarded the train that headed to Kelana Jaya. After a few transactions and a several kilometers of walking, we safely arrived at the national library. At that moment, we saw a group of students wearing the same school outing attire consisting of two girls and two boys walking towards us and that is where I knew they were the friends.
After introducing each other, we went inside the library to start the first plan of the day which is studying. I have not joined a study group in a while since I prefer to study alone or have one or two friends to help me. I personally thought that the study group would fail and we ended up losing our concentration but it did not. In fact, it went so well that I wish I knew them earlier to help me ease the burden of studying. They are all intelligent in different kinds of subjects. Sarah was a master in Add math, Sufi has an encyclopedic knowledge of History, Intan was a moving dictionary for both Malay and English and not to mention Azri who now has become our reference for killer subjects. We were discussing lessons and having a fun question and answer session for almost all subjects. We also learn easy ways to memorize notes and tips for examinations. Although they are all beautiful with brains, they were so friendly and approachable that they reduced the awkwardness despite the first time meeting.
Five hours passed by, we all started to feel tired and our stomachs were growling. So, we decided to stop studying and went to have our lunch at the nearest shopping mall. We went there by MRT because it is easier and quicker despite getting cramped up among many other people during peak hour on the weekend. As we arrived, we headed straight to the food court level and chose to eat Japanese food. We ordered some sushi and different types of noodle dishes. I used this opportunity to get to know them better. Along with that, we were sharing our experiences studying in two different kinds of school, our favorites, likes and dislikes plus many random things.
One hour later, we were filled and went to do our prayers at the prayer room. Before we went home and back to the hostel, we reckoned that it was still early to call it a day. Plus we do not yet spend much time together and since we were in the shopping mall, we thought it is a good idea to have a quick window shopping. The stationary store was our first choice. We bought a few sets of pens and pencils with several notebooks and test pads. Then, we went to fashion outlets to see the new styles and outfits that we may be interested in. Not only that, we also went to the beauty section to test out some new cosmetics and self-care products. Although we did not buy anything except for the stationeries, we were excited to be able to see and try out the latest trends together.
Not long after that, our curfew was calling us to go back home and went back to the hostel. We all traveled to the national library once again to send Amirah’s friends to their school. I decided to exchange numbers and social media information with them so we could still keep in touch. Before the goodbyes, we took some pictures together and had our separate ways. At the end of the day, I was satisfied and overjoyed because I did not expect that I could be friends with people from different schools. Although we just met, we got close quite fast and did not feel awkward at all. I hope I can spend time with them again in the near future.
